This is Astral Lite playing Hollow World Fest at Hunter Amphitheater in Pensacola, FL on May 27, 2023. Astral Lite is a cosmic, psychedelic, punk band from Pensacola, FL. In January 2024, 6 months after the release of their debut album, “Pseudoscientist”, Astral Lite announced during a show at The Handlebar, that they would be relocating the band to El Paso, TX.
"You may think you're funny, but you're insignificant." has got to be one of the more powerful opening lines to a set that I've heard in a long time. To follow that up with a line like, "We're all drowning in hell, in Hades" was absolutely mind-blowing for me.
Ever since the first Feed Lemon show when I filmed Johnie pounding on the stage for an encore, I've been dying to record Johnie's band, Astral Lite. Their sound reminds me of a more cosmic, psychedelic Pixies, but without being derivative. The rhythm section sounds so full, like a laid back version of Iggy Pop "Lust for Life". The vocals are fun and dynamic, and I'm forever stuck on those sweet harmonies. This was a really cool opportunity to record a band I love and don't get to see very often.
